Fragonard Belle d'Amour Eau de Toilette
Angelica goes by another name: wild celery. Not, on the face of it, the most romantic starting point for a perfume — which is exactly why this one is worth your attention.
Fragonard has taken that sweet, spicy, faintly green character and built something soft and sensual around it. Blackcurrant lifts the opening, jasmine and rose bring the florals, a bouquet of marigolds sits through the heart, and vanilla, cedar and amber settle the whole thing into warmth. Gourmand, but with that herbal thread running underneath keeping it from tipping into sweetness.
The result is a fragrance that reads as pretty from across the room and considerably more interesting up close. Made in Grasse, the perfume capital of France.
